Grande facilità d’uso L’obiettivo zoom è molto utile, perché offre una grande varietà di focali, al solo ruotare dell’anello della zoomata. Sta il fatto che nessun zoom è più luminoso di F2.8. L’esigenza di avere un obiettivo più luminoso porta il fotografo, che desidera una luminosità maggiore, a scegliere una focale fissa. Questa scelta, però, lo obbliga a portare con sé tanti obiettivi quante sono le focali che desidera usare. Il Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM appartiene a una nuova generazione di obiettivi con apertura massima di F1.8 a tutte le lunghezze focali. Grazie a ciò l’immagine che si vede nel mirino è molto luminosa e permette al fotografo di controllare meglio la messa a fuoco e l’inquadratura. In confronto ad un obiettivo F2.8, l’apertura di F1.8 permette al fotografo di essere più creativo e usare tempi di posa più rapidi o giocare meglio sulla profondità di campo. Dalla focale grandangolare a quella normale, questo zoom offre la stessa qualità e versatilità delle corrispondenti ottiche fisse. Il risultato di una tecnologia all’avanguardia Per ottenere uno zoom grandangolare con apertura massima di F1.8 bisogna superare diverse difficoltà di carattere tecnico. Più l’apertura massima aumenta, più la profondità di campo, offerta dall’obiettivo, diminuisce. La progettazione dell’obiettivo si complica anche perché si debbono correggere numerose aberrazioni, come quella sferica, quella cromatica assiale e l’astigmatismo dovuto alla curvatura di campo. Per correggere l’aberrazione astigmatica su tutta l’escursione focale abbiamo fatto ricorso all’esperienza maturata nel realizzare i nostri zoom super grandangolari quali il Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 II DG HSM e Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC Hsm. Inoltre, le innovazioni introdotte nella nostra fabbrica di Aizu contribuiscono a migliorare la produzione dei nostri obiettivi. Tali innovazioni ci hanno permesso di costruire grandi lenti asferiche in vetro che, assieme al vetro SLD (Special Low Dispersion), ha ottimizzato la trasmissione della luce nei vari elementi ottici e ha compensato aberrazioni quali la curvatura di campo alle focali grandangolari. Grazie alle conoscenze accumulate, per lungo tempo, nel realizzare obiettivi e grazie alle più recenti tecniche costruttive, Sigma è felicemente riuscita a costruire uno zoom di luminosità F1.8 a tutte le sue focali. Realizzato per minimizzare il flare e le immagini fantasma Il flare e le immagini fantasma sono state controllate fin dall’inizio della progettazione per arrivare a un obiettivo che risponde bene sia in situazioni di luce incidente, sia in situazioni di controluce. Il trattamento Super Multi Strato riduce il flare e le immagini fantasma e garantisce immagini incise e contrastate anche nelle riprese in controluce.
